If you're looking for a primitive piece of pottery for your decor/home, or for use, here it is... This stunning and rare antique salt-glaze stoneware piece is in wonderful condition. There are two very small hairlines, some crazing, glaze dripping, and flea bites, all characteristic of the age. This type of pottery was often given the name "stupid." Legend has it, an impatient photographer, after a long day, asked for that stupid pitcher to be moved into his final shot. The folks present found it hilarious, and the name stuck. The pitcher is uniquely made in three parts, with a center seam present. A fine piece of history!
Measurements:
9" high, 8" wide (with handle and spout), 4 3/4" wide opening
